An Historical Haven in the Highlands

Enjoy an Unforgettable Escape to the Estate of Ord

An Exclusive Highland Experience

The Estate of Ord, with the welcoming Ord House Hotel, Matilda’s café and prosecco bar, walled garden, natural woodland and pond, wellness centre, art studio and retail outlet lies less than ten miles from the city of Inverness in north Scotland – gateway to the Highlands and the North Coast 500.

If you happen to be a fan of the long-running hit TV saga “Outlander” you’ll feel right at home here at this secluded 17th Century manor house, which is strikingly similar in aspect and vintage to the fictional “Lallybroch”, family seat of the series’ hero, Jamie Fraser.

The house is situated right where Jamie’s ancestral home would logically be, too, according to a map of the Highlands drawn in the 1740s, now in the National Library of Scotland, which clearly shows Ord House sited on land that could well have been disputed between Clan MacKenzie and Clan Fraser, as cited in the popular story.

A Diverse, Unique Scottish Hospitality Venue

Your Highland hosts at the Estate of Ord – George and Sonja – gladly open their hearts and the gates of the estate near the village of Muir of Ord to a variety of visitors from near and far.

Tourists bed down in bespoke hotel rooms on their way to exploring the legendary North Coast 500 road route, and join locals for a get together over a meal or snack in the friendly garden café. You can shop in the little store, wander round the wonderful gardens, or sip a wee dram in the congenial bar.

The couple have turned the historic Ord House and surrounding grounds into the centre of a diverse, unique hospitality venue catering for an ever-evolving offering, ideal for:

Make Memories & Capture Instagrammable Moments

The staff at Estate of Ord are committed to making all their guests feel at home and leave – whether it’s after a day, a week or even longer – with happy memories and a phone full of “Instagrammable moments”.

The Estate of Ord lies on the edge of the Black Isle of Ross & Cromarty – a peninsula rather than an island, and certainly not black or dull in any way! In fact, the area boasts some of the most magnificent scenery and charming villages in the Highlands, along with an abundance of all things Scottish: beautiful beaches, golf courses, some impressive castles, water and wildlife.

Come and soak up the scenery, the culture, the history and the wonderful whisky here on the doorstep of the Estate of Ord – a little piece of Highland heaven.

"George and Sonja sincerely hope you’ll come and enjoy all that the Estate of Ord has to offer and look forward to meeting you."
